I completed this model just after NASA' s 'InSight' landed on Mars. An exciting 7 minutes and what an achievement.
Note on the Interstage. In the photograph the Interstage is shown as part of S-IC. The reason for this is that I wanted to give the assembled rocket some stability so glued the Interstage to the S-IC rather than to S-II. This way I could show the J-2 engines on S-II. The Interstage is, however, truly a part of S-II and separates from this stage 28 seconds after the ignition of the J-2 engines (Apollo 11 figure).
In retrospect, gluing was probably unnecessary. Maybe I'll build another! The Airfix version looks good but is expensive. There again, next year marks the 50th anniversary of the first Moon landing so building another Saturn V should be done. So I bought the Airfix 1:144.
A photograph of the assembled current Revell build will appear shortly.
